New look for the New Year!

I got a bit tired of my green photo background, so I decided to adopt a lighter and simpler look...

 Now that I closed my Italian Needlecrafts site I'll move here the photos of the ancient embroidery magazines that were hosted there... I've already prepared two pages (one for Il Ricamo and one for Il Ricamo Illustrato) for easy access; in the next days I'll add links to download the photos of pages, which will be hosted on another site.  Files will also remain on the Italian Needlecrafts site for a few weeks, but as the contract with the provider is expiring in about three weeks and I won't renew it, I expect the site to disappear soon (but not before all the files are safe and links are posted here).

Hello Elena,
I was sad to learn you would no longer have your on-line store with those beautiful linens and books, but I am so glad you are continuing your blog. I like the clean look. May 2012 bring you much happiness with family, friends, and crafts!

Hi Elena, saw your etsy comment on the tapestry forum and wanted to visit your site. I found some comfort in knowing that other weavers don't sell so well on there either! I've nevercsoldva thing. I do very well locally, but weaving I guess is not something usually Googled.:)) anyway, I'm a new follower and look forward to revisiting your blog.

I too have theimpression that handwoven don't sell wellon the internet (and I'm not saying this only because nobody buys mine! :-)) On Etsy there are very, very few weavers who manage to have decent sales, and most of them are from places where they can charge very low prices, due to currency change rate or lower local prices.
I guess that in order to decide to buy a handwoven, one must be able to touch it, or at least to see it from real, as there are many characteristics (how soft it feels, whether it's heavy or light, how it drapes when you wear it) that are almost impossible to transmit with a photo...Not to mention colours which could be different from the photo! I believe these factors are most important for items that must be worn, so the situation might be better for wall hangings or tapestries..My wall hangings made with nettle and horsehair didn't sell, anyway! Probably hand woven items are just too expensive compared to what people are willing to spent for an item of that sort. For the moment I've moved my items to Zibbet as at least there is no listing price to pay, but of course sooner or later L'll just give up and stop trying to sell them, and use them myself before moths eat them!

@Gail
I was sorry too to close down my site, but sales were so few in the last year that really it made no sense to pay taxes for a commercial activity that was practically nonexistent :-(...
I hope the new year will be better. My best wishes to you too!
